The media is flipping its shit about Senator Mitt Romney's (R-UT) op-ed "blasting" Donald Trump, as the Associated Press described it.
Romney said Trump's “conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions last month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office.”
“With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring," wrote Romney.
Anytime a Republican is critical of Trump he lashes out, through Twitter, of course: “Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful,” Trump tweeted. “I won big, and he didn’t. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!”
Yet, despite what Romney says, and what Trump says about Romney and Jeff Flake, the three are perfectly aligned politically.
As the Associated Press notes, "Romney, in his opinion column, credited Trump for cutting corporate taxes, stripping out what he described as excessive regulation and appointing conservative judges. But he said policies and appointments are only part of being a president."
In other words, Romney agrees with policies that harm the middle class, the working class, the poor, and the environment. Romney just wishes that Trump would talk nicely while taking away people's access to healthcare.
There are many reasons to be frustrated with the media.
One such reason is their coverage of climate change. Media Matters tracked the number of times ABC, CBS, and NBC covered wildfires and mentioned climate change.
According to Media Matters, they had 107 segments in which they discussed wildfires, but just a total of 4 that included climate change:
Another thing that is annoying about the media is there embracing of Republicans who are "critical" of Donald Trump, and so you see shit like this from MSNBC:
Andrew Kaczynski of CNN is write when he tweets:
Outside of probably tariffs, I can't think of a Trump policy that any of these men don't support.
While appearing on CNN, "Maverick" Mitt Romney said the he "would vote for the border wall":
Samantha Grasso of Splinter sums it up as well anyone could: "So, no. Mitt Romney is no Senate Maverick, but he sure is good at writing pretty, meaningless words."
Romney writes "meaningless words," and the media eats it up...
