We Sell Them Guns & They Sell Us Oil

In an interview with 60 Minutes, Donald Trump showed that he does not want to acknowledge that it was in fact Saudi Arabia that murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, despite the fact that Turkish officials claim they have evidence that Saudi officials convinced Khashoggi to go to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

"As of this moment, they deny it, and deny it vehemently," said Trump about the Saudi's. "They deny it. They denied it in every way you can imagine. In the not too distant future, I think we'll know an answer."

One could just look at the Saudi media's conspiracy theory that Khashoggi was a pawn used in order to make the kingdom look bad.

Trump asks them if they did it, they say no, and Trump calls that plausible deniability? Only those being disingenuous or naive would think that it was anyone other than Saudi Arabia who killed Khashoggi.

To be fair to Trump, Obama and every other president since Franklin Roosevelt have been able to look the other way to Saudi Arabian crimes. Crimes that have occurred both domestically and internationally.

It was just last year that New York Times author Thomas Friedman wrote an opinion piece about Saudi-crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, in a way that he might as well posted a video of sucking bin Salman's Arabian cock.

Having said that, Donald Trump is likely not to do anything. "There are other ways of punishing," the kingdom said Trump. One has to ask, what do you do besides sanctions? One would ask maybe if he means that America will stop providing Saudi Arabia with weapons, but that is the reason as to why Trump does not want to impose sanctions:

"There's a lot at stake and maybe especially so because this man was a reporter. You'll be surprised to hear me say that." You're right Trump, it is surprising to hear you say that:

America and Saudi Arabia have a simple business partnership: America sells them weapons, and Saudi Arabia sells America oil.

Donald Trump doesn't want to deal with implications as impactful as the United States access to Saudi oil. If his threats have any validity, Saudi Arabia has threatened that they will retaliate, and how would that impact the United States?

I don't expect Trump to do what other president's wouldn't, and stand up against Saudi and harm America's access to oil. What this does show you too, however, is that Donald Trump is not going to drain the swamp. Trump is not just ignoring the idea of tackling our permanent war time economy. He is in fact, enabling it more than any president has before.

The news surrounding the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the lack of morality by money transactions made me think of one the famous scenes from The Network.

News anchor Howard Beale had an on-air tirade about the company he's working for being bought out by a Saudi conglomerate, so top brass had Beale meet with the companies chairman Arthur Jensen.

Arthur Jensen tells Howard Beale how the world works:

In this culture, money speaks louder than words...
