The main reason I am a supporter of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could for the sole reasons that calling herself a socialist and promoting the idea of increasing the marginal tax rate on the rich has caused people on the right to shit their pants, despite she's just a one freshman Congresswoman.
Nearly a month ago, the former governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker tweeted that he had taught 5th graders that if they made ten dollars doing chores, AOC's marginal tax rate would take seven of it, but AOC responded by pointing out that they would keep the ten dollars because it's ten dollars and that we would instead tax billionaires.
During the Super Bowl last Sunday, freshman Congressman Dan Crenshaw sent a tweet about the 70% marginal tax rate that AOC is known for supporting, but people pointed out that the NFL actually has a lot of socialist aspects and AOC pointing out that the average NFL salary meant that most of the players wouldn't be impacted by the 70% marginal tax rate.
But even Walker's and Crenshaw's critiques of AOC are nothing compared to that of what a Fox News guest said about her in which he declared that AOC is a "demagogue" who wants Americans to believe in "Latin American values" instead of American values.
“This is demagoguery, it's time she be called out,” said University of Maryland professor Peter Morici while appearing on Stuart Varney's show Varney & Co. “The left is just using global warming, climate change, the environment as a stalking horse for socialism. They can't take away all your money and accomplish this, but they will. That's what this is about.”
According to Morici, “What you have in Ocasio-Cortez are Latin American values,” and a Democratic Party that, “no longer believes in core American values."
Of course, you can't criticize an openly socialist American without using the Venezuelan defense, but apparently Morici thinks all Democrats are, because he said that the party as a whole is trying, "To bring the kind of socialism that destroyed Venezuela," to America.
Marici showed just how little he knew about Latin American politics by adding that Democrats want to bring, "Mexico, here," as well.
"We could easily become Mexico," continued Marici, "and you won't be able to go outside your door without getting shot." And then went on to compare Chicago to Mexico when he added: "And if you say, ‘Hey Peter, boy aren't you really going over the top,’ think about what the last eight or ten years have been like in Chicago.”
Unfortunately Marici was on Fox News, because maybe someone could have pointed out to Marici the story of Fred Hampton, and the fact that the state raided his home and shot him in the head from point blank range.
"Dear @PMorici1 (Peter Morici's twitter handle): You know what makes America great?" tweeted Congressman Ted Lieu, who was born in Taipei, Taiwan. "@AOC is a Member of the United States House of Representatives, and you are not." Ending the tweet saying, "Oh, and Happy Lunar New Year," which is an Asian celebration of the year of the pig.

Beyond Morici's racism and white nationalist fear mongering, the moron doesn't even grasp the fact that AOC is a Puerto Rican. Not only is Puerto Rico a Caribbean Island, Puerto Ricans are United States citizens who have the freedom to move between the Island and the mainland of America, since 1917.
Furthermore, I hope he doesn't get fired, because for now his comments do in fact show that a university professor can still have right wing beliefs in which a white person fears the possibility of the white race becoming a minority in the United States of America.
