On Monday, a day before the midterms, Trump tweeted (https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-tries-his-hand-at-voter-suppression): “Law Enforcement has been strongly notified to watch closely for any ILLEGAL VOTING which may take place in Tuesday’s Election (or Early Voting). Anyone caught will be subject to the Maximum Criminal Penalties allowed by law. Thank You!”
One would ask Trump to calm down, and
remind him that cases of voting fraud are so low, it’s virtually nonexistent. But we know that would be pointless, for three reasons:
-Donald Trump doesn’t listen to facts. Facts are what he thinks. Trump hates the democratic process, and hates that he didn’t win with the popular vote. -For years the GOP strategy has been to promote the bullshit theory of “voter fraud” to hide what they are really doing; voter suppression.
-As noted by The Daily Beast, polling experts are witnessing nationwide the “worst voter suppression” seen “in the modern era.”
Iowa and Missouri have new voter ID laws.
North Dakota requires voters to show proof of a residential mailing address, which hurts Native Americans living on reservations who don’t have a specific mailing address, for they get their mail at the Post Office.
In Georgia, the Secretary of State Brain Kemp, has put 53,000 voter registrations on hold, 80 percent of those on hold are African American registrations.
Brian Kemp is the Republican running for governor, but no conflict of interest going on there.
If the Republicans win on Tuesday, it will be because they have cheated (https://www.thedailybeast.com/if-the-republicans-win-tuesday-the-reason-will-be-simple-they-cheated).
“President Trump deserves plenty of blame,” writes Zachary Roth. “For two years, he’s been falsely stoking fear about voter fraud, including the lie that he’d have won the popular vote were it not for millions of illegal votes.”
“His bogus voter fraud commission,” continues Roth. “Which imploded earlier this year under the weight of its own mendacity, nonetheless helped establish the push to restrict voting as a key plank in the modern GOP’s agenda.”
Trump’s voter fraud commission was complete bullshit, but that didn’t phase the right one bit. In fact, they need to, and they know it.
Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are popular social programs, so how do you get rid of policies that are popular? You don’t let people vote...
