Along side the likes of Senator Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, and other Republican leaders, Sen. Mitch McConnell received campaign money from a Russian named Len Blavatnik.
As The Dallas Morning News noted (click headline), Blavatnik has multiple connections to Russian oligarchs
One such oligarch is Oleg Deripaska, a Putin favorite, and for years paid Paul Manafort millions of dollars.

According to The Washington Post, in the email dated July 7, 2016, just two weeks before Trump accepted the Republican nomination for president, Manafort asked an overseas intermediary to pass a message on to Deripaska: "If he [Deripaska] needs private briefings, tell him we can accommodate."
So it would make sense that he would block "a bipartisan push to vote on legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller," reported Politico in the last days of November.
Now, a politician who is known for his partisan politics, has the audacity to tweet this now that Democrats have taken control of the House:
"No man has done more in recent years to undermine the functioning of U.S. government. His has been the epitome of unprincipled leadership, the triumph of tactics in service of short-term power," wrote Dana Milbank of The Washington Post. "McConnell is no idiot. He is a clever man who does what works for him in the moment, consequences be damned."
"79 of Obama’s nominees had been blocked by filibusters, compared with 68 in the entire previous history of the Republic."
