If This Fucking Farm Bill Passes

The House of Representatives are working on a Farm Bill that will cover subjects like farm subsidies. Something that has become a large part of Trump’s trade war, since China has raised tariffs on American produce. “Today my colleagues in the House and Senate highlighted the urgency in farm and ranch country and just how desperate times are as net farm income is slated to fall again this year,” said Republican Rep. K. Michael Conway.

Conway is from Texas and heads the House Agriculture Committee.

Even though Trump’s policies will cause tax money to go to farmers. He wants to double up with a shit policy that could strip nearly two million Americans, and 469,000 households with small children from qualifying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Of course Trump would send a tweet that approved of fucking over children, the elderly, and those with disabilities:

The Trump Economy is booming with help of House and Senate GOP. #FarmBill with SNAP work requirements will bolster farmers and get America back to work. Pass the Farm Bill with SNAP work requirements!

Come on 80 year old elder, get out there and pick our strawberries! But it’s just not just access to food for the children, the elderly, and the disabled. The Farm Bill that is currently being proposed at the moment could destroy communities ability to prohibit pesticides.

As the current farm bill stands, “environment advocates warn that a House proposal could put public health at risk by rolling back restrictions on pesticides in 155 communities nationwide.” According to analysis by Environment Working Group (EWG), 58 of these communities have already adopted policies that would prohibit the use of glyphosate.

Glyphosate is used in the Monsanto weed killer RoundUp, in which a California jury ordered Monsanto to pay a California groundskeeper $289 million. RoundUp was the cause for the groundskeepers terminal cancer.

Local governments have been able to regulate the use of pesticides on parks, playgrounds, public property, but not on public land. The new farm bill could be interpreted as meaning that local governments would not even be allowed to regulate the use of pesticides with glyphosate on public lands.

It sounds both absurd, and hypocritical.

It’s absurd that a local government could not be allowed to regulate the use of a toxic chemical on public land. Never mind how absurd that proposition is? The use of a toxic chemical anywhere speaks volumes to the absurdity that this culture delves into. It’s absurd that a people would think it’s ok to use these pesticides anywhere. Even more absurd, to allow them to be used where we know children will be.

The farm bill not allowing local governments to regulate pesticide use is not the only time conservative politicians are hypocritical to state rights. In recent months, the Trump administration is going after California for continuing to set its own regulatory standards for automobile emissions.

Aside from being innovative on the most basic level, and slowing the inevitable of climate change. Donald Trump wants to do the opposite by allowing car companies to not build automobiles that would increase the miles per gallon, and carbon emissions. In other words, mathematically Trump wants you to pay more at the pump.

Trump is going after California because if the state is allowed to set its own standards for carbon emissions. Automakers will be forced to make vehicles that comply with California standards, because these companies need California’s markets. If California is allowed to have its own standards, and American automakers follow Trump. Foreign and state automakers will do well, and the others will be fucked.

The same could be said about pesticide use. Most people don’t want to walk through air filled with poison. The increase of public support to get rid of pesticides means less money being made by corporations. Hence, writing bills that prevent local governments from doing what its community members want done.

Believe in state rights, yet prevent states from having rights. Family values, but preventing children, the elderly, and those with disabilities, from having access to meals.

One word: Assholes!
