It's Not Just Trump On Puerto Rico Lies

I wrote a little about Trump’s twitter posts on September, 13. For one, I’m stupid so his tweets are up my ally. Secondly, they were utterly insane!

Here was a couple of them:

3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000...

And:

.....This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!

The tweets get too much intention, but unfortunately you have to discuss them. Unfortunately, Fox News exists.

Fox Business host Lou Dobbs has chosen to use his airtime to say this:

Also tonight, the shameful politicization of Puerto Rico's Hurricane death toll, and only President Trump has had the guts to call out the Dems and national left wing media types, who have blindly accepted an amazing tortured inflation of the death toll, almost 50 times higher than the original count, and with scant evidence to support any of it. How does that count go from dozens in the days after the storm to almost 3,000 nearly a year later? Well, it involves as many academicians as humanly possible in the effort, and then you watch the entire exercise become a farce.

Trump has allowed Fox News to be pathetic by their standards. CNN’s coverage on Hurricane Florence has been way over the top, but at least they were covering something that was actually occurring in reality. Politico reported that “Trumped favored Texas over Puerto Rico,” and there is no reason to think of Politico as a Left-wing news site.

Trump’s administrational failing with Puerto Rico that was so bad, that even FEMA couldn’t deny it. But Trump couldn’t keep from calling it “an incredible, unsung success.” “I think that Puerto Rico was an incredible, unsung success,” said Trump to reporters during a briefing. Damn, with all the things that Trump is so incredible at, that in two years, we will have world peace.

Puerto Ricans have written letters about their situation. Here’s a small story of one person:

My name is Norma Socorro Rosario. I live in the mountains of Puerto Rico. I was here for other hurricanes that touched us. But I can’t remember nothing like Maria. I had an organic farm. I planted botanical plants for many health conditions. When Maria came everything changed. The soil looked like it had been hit by an atomic bomb. After months I can’t recover my plants. I started again. But the surviving plants did not grow. They suffered to much. I had three neighbors that were in bed with bad diseases. They passed away after Maria. It was to much without energy. We had ten months without electricity and water. The wounds covered their backs, and they died.

For Donald Trump, and sycophants like Lou Hobbs, and Breitbart. The story of Puerto Ricans don’t mean much, and so are willing to play politics with the loss of life. Not for how could so many die needlessly, but rather, thousands of those lives I will erase to be what Breitbart would say they aren’t. They’re fake news, and not just because they lie. As MediaMatters notes, Breitbart says that around 1,000 have died in Puerto Rico, but the president said that 18 was as high as the death count could have been.

Trump was only off by 982 deaths.... Way to defend your master Breitbart..
