Perpetuating Ignorance

“Can’t wait to be with the great people of southeastern North Carolina supporting @MarkHarrisNC9 for Congress in the 9th Congressional District later today. I know he will a strong advocate for conservative values and stand with President Trump!” Wrote Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter.

If you’re wondering, I did not misspell Don Jr.’s tweet, he did the misspelling on his own. Like his father, Jr. has a pension for misspelling tweets.

Mark Harris, the man Jr. is campaigning for, served as a Baptist pastor in Charlotte before running for office, said (https://forward.com/fast-forward/413488/gop-candidate-no-peace-in-israel-until-jews-muslims-convert-to/ in a sermon Israel will not find peace until Jews and Muslims convert to Christianity.

“You cannot be in that land, as powerful and as moving as it is, without realizing the incredible tension that is incorrectly in that land between the Palestinians and the Jews,” said Harris back in 2011.

“There will never be peace in Jerusalem until the day comes that every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

Harris, unsurprisingly, has had harsh rhetoric for Islam.

In a sermon back in 2010, Harris called Islam a Satanic religion and “the great counterfeit of our generation.. That’s why we’ve got to be so careful of political leaders who somehow just like to speak of it as one of the great world religions. Ladies and gentlemen, it is not.”

Don Jr. is not the only one who supports Christians who has not so great of things to say about Judaism and Islam.

Donald Trump had the Baptist pastor Robert Jeffress give a blessing to the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, whom 2012 GOP Presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, called (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/romney-criticizes-robert-jeffress-ahead-jerusalem-embassy-opening-n873821) a “religious bigot.”

Mitt Romney tweeted: “Robert Jeffress says, ‘You can’t be saved by being a Jew, and ‘Mormonism is a heresy from the pit of hell. He’s said the same thing about Islam. Such a religious bigot should not be giving the prayer that opens the United States Embassy in Jerusalem.”

Like those on the Christian Right, Jeffress is a supporter of Israel, but only for what serves their interests, meaning; the second coming of Christ.

It’s why Jeffress once said, “the truth everyone headed to hell has rejected is that Jesus Christ is the only means by which a person may be saved.”

On October 9, 2017, Jeffress said of Islam: “Is Islam just another way to worship God? Let me say this without any hesitation: Islam is a false religion that is based on a false book that was written by a false prophet. If you sincerely follow the tenets of Islam, then you will end up in hell when you die.”

Misspelling tweets, support Christians who are bigots towards others beliefs: like father-like son...
