During Donald Trump's presidential campaign, he would play "You can't always get what you want" by The Rolling Stones. Looking back on it, it's ironic that he would choose such a thing, since he is a man who thinks he deserves everything he wants. Growing up, my dad would put the Stones' on during the weekends, and 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' being on the album "Let It Bleed" meant the old man played the song quite a bit, and I heard listen to it a lot.
It was a good song, but not anymore. Every time I hear the song, I can only think of a piece of shit, and a man who doesn't represent the song in anyway. It's why I wish the Stones' had told Trump to stop playing their song, just like Heart told Sarah Palin to stop using their song 'Barracuda.'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, artist Pharrell Williams sent Trump a legal threat letter for using his song 'Happy' at a midwest rally.
Pharrell didn't send the letter to Trump for merely using the song, although that was partly the reason, but the other reason was for Trump using the song just hours after 11 people were murdered at The Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburg, PA.
"On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged 'nationalist,' you played his song 'Happy' to a crowd at a political event in Indiana," wrote Williams attorney, Howard King.
According to King, Williams has not, and will not allow Trump to use his song 'Happy' without his consent. Noting that to do so would result in copyright and trademark infringements.
Despite my biases against Trump, with regards to him ruining Rolling Stones songs for me.
Choosing to go ahead with a rally just hours after a horrific tragedy, and playing a song called 'Happy,' can only mean two things.
1) You're fucking stupid
