The Washington Post has reported that the Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis, who is running for the governorship of Florida, has attended conferences that are hosted by author David Horowitz. Horowitz has said that the Conservative Political Action Conference is “compromised by radical Islamic influences.” He also suggested the possibility that Huma Abedin, a top aide of Hillary Clinton’s, may have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that she married “a Jew so she can infiltrate our government.
Alongside Horowitz, an alt-right nut from Canada also hosted the conference, who RightWingWatch says, is “an anti-Muslim activist who has downplayed the horrors of the Holocaust.” Not only is DeSantis attending these conferences hosted by Horowitz, who has had the likes of Steve Bannon, Milo Yiannopolous, and Sebastian Gorka speak at other events. All three are men whom do not have kind words to say about Muslims.
DeSantis has also been on stage with the anti-Muslim speakers, and according to the Washington Post, DeSantis has spoken four times at conferences hosted by Horowitz.
The Post reported, and noted by RightWingWatch about Horowitz’s Freedom Center:
Founded in 1988, the Freedom Center described its mission on a fundraising appeal: “We combat the efforts of the radical left and its Islamist allies to destroy American values and disarm this country as it attempts to defend itself in a time of terror.”
Guest speakers at its conferences over the past five years have included Republican members of Congress, former governors Rick Perry of Texas and Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, young conservative activists James O’Keefe and Ben Shapiro, and right-wing European politicians Nigel Farage and Geert Wilders.
Beyond the annual conferences, Horowitz has a record of inflammatory comments on social media. He was temporarily locked out of his Twitter account last month for a post involving Islam.
After winning the GOP nomination, it took DeSantis no time to start revealing to the world that he’s a racist piece of shit.
While appearing on Fox News, DeSantis backhanded his opponent Andrew Gillum, who is black, by saying that Gillum was “an articulate spokesman.” Listen, calling black people articulate has a place in the box of racist dog whistles. Maybe DeSantis isn’t racist, but rather, a very poor choice of words. Unfortunately, for DeSantis. Just moments later, he said “The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.”
It’s not just his choice of words on television, or conference’s held by racist people. But Ron DeSantis was one of 52 moderators in a Facebook group full of Islamaphobes, anti-immigrant, and racist content. The group is named “Tea Party,” and has 97,000 members. Another person in this group is the “neo-Confederate” Corey Stewart, who is running for Senate in Virginia.
Too many times DeSantis that you’ve been affiliated with racist pieces of shits.
Vote for Gillum, for more reasons other than DeSantis is a racist. Gillum has been running on an environmental platform, and Florida needs to do some shit. DeSantis won’t do what needs to be done. Maybe Gillum won’t either, but DeSantis has clearly not shown to have good thoughts or ideas rolling around in his brain.
Makes sense as to why Trump would like him.
