People made a big deal about the boisterous rhetoric from Donald Trump at the NATO meetings yesterday. He’s trying to break up the post-WWII alliance, some exclaimed to what Donald Trump said. Germany being “captive” played well for those who hate Trump, and those the support Trump (You know, morons). For those who hate him, we can’t believe he would say that about a country whose chancellor lived in East Germany controlled by the Soviet Union. For his supports, his shit talking shows he’s being tough, because it’s about being tough.
He defends his comments about Germany by saying he’s a “very stable genius.” In the end, his rhetoric didn’t do much. Italy said they don’t plan to change their NATO spending, and Germany didn’t make it clear whether or not their spending would change. President Emmanuel Macron’s comments show how Trump’s rhetoric was just that; “Everyone agreed to raise spending as they agreed in 2014, and everyone agreed to respect the commitments they made.” The two percent increase in spending, allows Trump to look tough to his supporters while not doing a thing.
As The Intercept has reported in the past, Germany serves “as the high-tech heart of America’s drone program.” The American base in Ramstein enables drone pilots to “communicate with their remote aircraft in Yemen, Somalia Afghanistan and other targeted countries.” Trump’s supporters get tricked by his blustering rhetoric, but so to are his opponents.
On July 6, 2017, Donald Trump gave a speech in Warsaw, with Polish Trump supporters their to listen. Protesters kept away by police, reminiscent of anti-war protesters being kept out of sight from George W. Bush’ re-election inauguration. In his speech, Trump said “The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive.” That idea is insane, but it played well for host Jaroslaw Kaczynski and his supporters of the Law and Justice Party. Jaroslaw Kaczynski is a conspiracy theorist, who attacks Muslims, and says that they spread parasites and disease. But that’s not the main point of telling this story.
As Donald Trump was in Poland, that same day, July 6, Japan was in Brussels meeting with the EU. They were there to make a trade deal, Japan export cars, Europe exports farm produce. “The world’s largest free, advanced, industrialized economic zone,” said Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe.
President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker said the agreement “shows that closing ourselves off from the world is not good for business, nor for the global economy, nor for workers. As far as we are concerned, here is no protection in protectionism.”
I’m not a neoliberal (thanks Clinton’s for many the Democratic party what Republicans use to be), and I really don’t care for economy talk, just certain aspects of it. Trump said he wanted to renegotiate NAFTA, and to make a better deal the TPP. I would like for him to do these things, I think it’s something that should be done, as I am supporter of labor more so than capital. Trump isn’t going to do these things. People say Trump is an idiot, that’s partially true. He’s an idiot when it comes to science or history, but the art of propaganda and swindling, he’s really good at that shit.
He has yet to make a trade deal, not even close, but his antics gets him approval from supports and those hopeful for a better economic situation. The trade war and the use of tariffs is just a television stunt as the marxist economic Richard Wolff has pointed out. Somehow Trump has more support from places that are going to be hit by tariffs the most, but maybe they will see Trump isn’t going to do anything.
Just look back to May, when the news about Trump helping out ZTE, the Chinese telecommunications company that has been accused of spying on U.S. citizens. Around the same time, China awarded Ivanka Trump with seven more trademarks, pure fucking coincidence.
Trump going to war with China is bullshit. He’s willing to screw Americans so that he can look good to those who support his tariffs, or who have been negatively impacted by the global economy, who I have sympathy. The reality is that he doesn’t care. He and his family make their shit products in China. As David Cay Johnston wrote in his second Donald Trump book ‘It’s Even Worse Than You Think’: “For his high-rise hotel in Chicago and his hotel without a casino in Las Vegas, Trump imported cheap steel from China, costing American workers their jobs. He went to great lengths to hid where the steel came from.
Donald Trump is the bench warmer who talks shit… Only this one is also a narcissist and a liar. This one views the world through the prism of a reality television star. Being president is a reality show, and he has and will not have any compassion or empathy for those who fall in his wake…
