In 1988, James Hansen, director of NASA's Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan, testified before the Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee. There he warned the world, "it is time to stop waffling so much and say that the evidence is pretty strong that the greenhouse effect is here." Today, James Hansen has another warning for us-The Greenland and Antarctica glaciers are melting 10 times faster. According to Dr. Hansen and 16 other prominent co-authors, say that the sea level will rise at least 10 feet in or around 50 years.
Their study has yet to be peer-reviewed, but they conclude:
"... continued high emissions will make multi-meter sea rise practically unavoidable and likely to occur this century. Social disruption and economic consequences of such large sea level rise could be devastating. It is not difficult to imagine that conflicts arising from forced migrations and economic collapse might make the planet ungovernable, threatening the fabric of civilization."
In other words, the father of climate change says we're completely fucked. On the other hand, Donald Trump, aka shithead, has other plans.
By 2026, Obama wanted cars to have a fuel economy of 50 mpg. Not only would that mean you would be spending less money to buy gas, but in environmental terms, it's about the laziest thing we could fucking do. Donald Trump instead, is like "that James Hansen guy, what does he know? I know more than he does. I know everything. I'm like a genius." Instead of ingenuity, Trump wants us to be lazy and try and force California to keep to cap mpg-regulations to 35 mpg.
I'm sick of the Republican party being hellbent on making the earth look like hell, and I just love this blood-sucking, profit-over-people culture we fucking got going here....
