The GOP Gets What the GOP Deserves

As of writing this blog, I’m reading the book titled ‘Everything Trump Touches Dies,’ by Republican strategist Rick Wilson. Being someone who is far to the left of Rick Wilson, I didn’t get the book expecting to agree with him on much other than Trump is an asshole, and maybe a few other things.

According to Wilson, he sent an email to political donors in July of 2015, that read:

We can spend a few million now to stop Trump, tens of millions if we wait until the Fall of 2015 or hundreds of millions in the Spring of 2016. . . or just wait until he destroys the GOP and (we will spend) several billion to rebuild our party brand and to undo the damage a generation of far-left governance will cause. Your call.

Like I said, I knew I wasn’t going to agree with him on everything. I say bring a far-left governance. Enough of these tax breaks to corporations who’ll just use the money to just put more into their own pockets. Like Apple for example, they’re now worth a $1 trillion dollars, do they pay employees in China more? Do they invest in Jobs here? Nah. They proceeded to get $100 billion in corporate stock buy backs, which is good for Apple executives and nothing nor anyone else. People being able to get cancer treatment without the debt they’ll have to pay if they survive sounds good to me, and doesn’t sound radical. After all, when you think of radicals, would Stephen Hawking be one you would think of?

Having said that, in that memo that Rick Wilson wrote that I agree with him on, is Trump’s destruction of the GOP. For people like me, it’s easy to say “Fuck the GOP!” and for good reason. Their policies are horrible in every way possible. Tax cuts for the rich, more spending in military, disregard for the environment and public health, workers rights, minority rights, women’s rights, etc. The end of the GOP doesn’t mean that we’ll have the conservative Democrats and to the left. It means that it will be the corrupt Democratic party, and a party that’s the Freedom cacaos, and the Freedom caucus might be good compared to what will come next.

Take a look at what’s going on within the GOP in the state of Arizona. Running for the Senate is GOP Rep. Martha McSally, and she is seen as the favorite by the Republican establishments, because the people she’s running against are fucking nut-jobs. Martha McSally is running against former sheriff Joe Arpaio, named “The Birther Sheriff” by RighWingWatch.org, and Kelli Ward, named “The Infowars Doctor,” by RightWingWatch. I’ll discuss those two in a minute. First, apparently the National Republican Committee Chairman Cory Gardner called the president, asking him to endorse Martha McSally.

Sorry Cory, but this is what Rick Wilson is talking about. Trump is a supporter of the other two, for god sakes! he pardoned one of them! Trump may very well choose to publicly endorse Martha McSally, but then again he may remain out of it for the fact that he has already publicly endorsed the other two. Furthermore, this is what you get when you normalize Trump. Joe Arpaio and Kelli Ward aren’t the only one’s running for office that are bat shit crazy.

Cynthia Dunbar is running in Virginia’s 6th Congressional District. As RightWingWatch wrote, Cynthia Dunbar “led a crusade to rewrite the state’s textbooks and curriculum to ensure that they reflected the Religious Right’s pseudo-historical narrative about the nation’s Christian founding and purpose.” Running for Senate in Virginia is Corey Stewart, an anti-immigrant conspiracy theorist who “compared removing Confederate monuments to ISIS atrocities.” This is but a few that are running for Congress and the Senate in the Republican party, all Trumphian, all in the Infowar wheelhouse.

Kelli Ward, Joe Arpaio, and Martha McSally are running for the Senate seat that Jeff Flake is leaving behind. In all honesty, the horrible policies that these three would bring is no different than Flake’s. I feel it’s important to remind myself and others that just because these people are insane, Jeff Flake’s policies were horrible too, he just doesn’t say or believe all the insane shit that they do.

Joe Arpaio stood right behind Trump as Donald Trump told the world that Obama wasn’t an American, even establishing a “Cold Case Posse” to investigate Obama’s birth place. When Arpaio announced he was running for Senate he said he would continue the Crusade on Obama, because he had proof that Obama’s birth certificate is “a fake document.” Great, what a way to spend tax payer money, does Joe know that he’s a conservative? (Rick Wilson would argue that the GOP can no longer claim they have fiscal-conservatism).

Like Joe Arpaio, Kelli Ward has appeared on Infowars. Jones has said she’s “amazing” and that her Senate race was “probably the most important Senate race in the country.” The reason Jones said that about her and her Senate race, is because she’s conspiracy-nut like he is. As state senator, she called for a public hearing to address her constituents’ concerns that chemtrails were, as RightWingWatch put it: “having an effect on the weather and on people’s blood chemistry.” On top of her chemtrails stance, she joined other state legislators who went to Mesquite, Nevada, in 2014 to support Cliven Bundy. Two reasons for Alex Jones to get a boner. When she announced that she would challenge Flake, Trump tweeted his support for her, and she was also supported by Steve Bannon and Bannon’s master Robert Mercer.

This is what you get GOP. I hope Joe Arpaio or Kelli Ward wins, because that’s who you deserve.
